D&D Cakes have excellent prices and we try to keep the costs down but it does take time and expertise to prepare an elegant design. Simple cake designs are the least expensive. The more time consuming and complicated the cake design the more the cake will cost. Types of icings can affect your costs greatly. Decide ahead of time what amount of money you can budget toward your cake and that will help you and D&D choose wisely from our designs.
Our whipped topping cakes begin at $2.50 per serving.
Our buttercream icing cakes begin at $2.95 per serving.
Our rolled fondant cakes begin at $4.50 per serving.
Our wedding cupcakes are $1.95 each

5- Outdoor Pitfalls
If you are planning an outdoor wedding in the summer heat, please REMEMBER these REALISTIC FACTS:
Flies love sweets.
Heat melts most icings.
High humidity will turn gumpaste flowers limp.
Chocolate curls will melt and fresh flowers will wilt in prolonged exposure to heat.
Rain and wind can cause havoc such as collapsing tents and blowing table cloths right off of the tables. Not to mention the damage it can do to an artificial cake.
You will need to have a backup site just in case there are unforeseen extreme weather conditions.
These are just a few examples of things that we can not be responsible for.

6- Fresh Flowers
Fresh Flowers to go on a cake may have been treated with insecticides and pesticides (besides the chemicals that are inserted to keep them fresh longer before they reach your florist). Some flowers and greenery might be harmful if ingested so select carefully. Your florist can advise you as to which flowers would be best.

7- Sugar Flowers
If you choose to use gum paste flowers on a cake you must be prepared to pay for the time it takes to make these exquisite flowers. Many of these flowers may be made on wires or toothpicks to achieve the look and arrangements you want. The wired and toothpicked flowers must be removed from the cake as it is served.

8- Color
If you would like us to come close to the colors you are using in the wedding you must bring a swatch of fabric to us at least 3 inches square. Preferably there will be solid color in each swatch. When using dark colors it is difficult to achieve the right shade and color in icing as well as difficult to arrange attractively on a decorated cake. We will do our best, but icing does not always color the same as fabric.

9- Cake Style
You may choose from cupcakes, a stacked cake, a cake with pillars, satellites, or a cake stand. Your cake may be placed on top of a fountain or other ornament. A cake stand such as a floating tier stand may be preferable if you are concerned about having somebody pick the cake up for you and delivering it safely. Stacked cakes can be very heavy, and pillars may look a little intimidating to you. When you are ordering your cake please consider these things. We will be very happy to help you decide which style would best suit your needs, and your tastes, and your venue

10- Artificial Pearls And Ornaments
If you require Darlene and Diane to use artificial strings of pearls and other artificial or plastic ornaments or ribbon on a wedding cake - those non edible decorations must be removed before the cake can be served to your guests. Since it is your choice to use those decorations on a cake design - it is your responsibility to make sure the cake cutting people understand to remove those items from cake being served to your guests.

11- Cake servings
We can guide you as to the number of servings of cake you will need. This will depend on whether you are having your cake for your main dessert or if it is for a late lunch. You may even want to have your cake for the next day. A lot of couples like to save the cake for their first anniversary. To preserve a cake for that length of time the cake must be wrapped ccordingly. Please realize we have no control over freezer temperatures or how well the wrapping will protect the cake. It will bring back great memories when you thaw your cake out but we are not responsible for dried cake or freezer burn.

12- Fruit Fillings
Please be considerate of your guests. Seeds, raisins, nuts, coconut and fruit fillings can be very difficult for many people. Please consider allergies and the elderly when ordering. We cannot be held responsible for these oversites.

13- Cake Placement at your Reception
Where will your cake(s) be placed in the reception area? Consult the reception site consultant as well as D&D Cakes. Look at the walls and consider the background for your wedding pictures when planning where the cake(s) will be placed. Are there fire extinguishers, plugs, restroom signs, etc. in the background of your cake placement? If you are planning to use a fountain in your cake set up, is there a wall plug nearby? Does the reception site furnish extension cords or will you need to provide those?
Another thing you might want to consider at the reception site is how the traffic flow will be handled. All of the food placement in one area might cause a traffic jam. A cake placed near a dance floor can be hazardous for traffic flow. Is there a children's table near the cake table? Is there a door that opens in toward the cake? Are the tables sturdy enough to hold the cake(s)? Does the reception site have tables and table coverings?

14- Terms & Conditions
*** D&D hereby certifies that all work was carried out in strict accordance with all specifications outlined by our Client. However, when D&D give you your cake we take a picture of the finished product. We are NOT responsible for your cake if it is knocked over, dropped, tipped, or bumped. If we are called out to make repairs there will be an extra charge.
*** When moving your cake from the box please remember how heavy a 3 tier stacked cake can be. The cake should be placed on a table and the sides of the box cut away so the cake may be slid out on to the table. Stacked cakes can weigh up to 35 pounds and may be too much of a surprise for your fingers if the cake is not properly supported.
If there should be an accident please call us and we will rent you an artificial cake for your pictures. If you would like us to deliver the artificial cake there will be a delivery charge.

15- Cutting The Cake
Don't assume that a caterer or reception site personnel will be cutting your cake. You should ask if this service is included and if so how much the fee will be for the service. We can provide a diagram to help the person cutting the cake get the correct number of servings. Also ask if the caterer provides the cake serving knives. You will need a sharp serrated knife that is at least 5 inches long. If you ask a personal good friend to serve your cake, you are asking them to work your wedding party event. Are you bestowing an honor on them, or are you cutting corners at the expense of your party guests? Due to the high cost of serving the cake at some venues we can sometimes have our staff serve your cake for you. Please contact us for availability and prices.

16- Ornaments
When picking an ornament for your cake consider the weight of the ornament. Icing and cake are soft, so very heavy ornaments must have some extra support in the cake. If we know in advance about your cake topper we can put some support in your cake to hold it. If you do not tell us you have selected a heavy ornament and it should fall from the top it can do damage to tiers as gravity pulls it downward. If that should happen you should be prepared to pay one of our decorators to make an extra trip back to the reception site to repair the damage.

17- The Party's Over
When your reception is finished please remember the items you have rented such as the fountain, stairs, or a cake stand. Do you have a responsible person designated to care for these things? An artificial cake left in a damp garage, in the night air, or under a tent while it is raining can be damaged beyond repair. If you are returning dirty or damaged rental items you may forfeit some or all of your damage deposit.

18- Final Cake Payment
Final payment for your wedding cake will be required two weeks in advance of your wedding day. When you consider that your name and residence will be changing it is very reasonable for payment to be expected in advance. If you are using or renting any stands, plates, fountains, etc. the damage deposit must be paid in cash. The money will be returned to you upon safe return of the rental items. If there is any damage or if these items are not cleaned you will be charged accordingly.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
19- Cancellation
If for some reason you must cancel your wedding, please notify us as soon as possible. Your deposit is non refundable. We only accept a certain number of bookings per weekend. We have set this time aside to do your cake and it is quite possible that we have refused other orders because you have booked us. If you postpone your wedding we will consider rebooking your cake with no loss of deposit if we are not already booked for the date you choose. You may do this only one time. If you choose to change your date again your deposit will not be transferrable.

20- A Little Wedding Cake Trivia
In earlier times the wedding guests would supply the cakes by bringing a small bread or cake with them to the wedding. These were stacked, as a sign of prosperity, so the bride and groom could kiss over them for good luck. The bride and groom today cut the first slice as a symbol of unity. Traditionally the top tier is kept for their first anniversary or as a Christening cake for their first child. In Roman times the tradition was to throw small wheat cakes at the bride, as a symbol of fertility. This changed to breaking the wheat cakes over the bride’s head and the bride and groom would eat the crumbs. Guests then scrambled for the pieces of cake in hope of securing good luck for themselves. The European tradition in wedding cakes is mostly white, as a symbol of purity. Wedding cakes in other cultures are often more colorful.
